To install Diablo without the CD is very easy, however, it will require about 550-575MB of space to do so. Ready? * Do a normal install. This can be of version 1.00 , 1.02 ,or 1.03 but you must know which. * Use a hex editor to edit the STORM.DLL file that is on your hard drive. If you are using V1.00 - Find location 0000C916 and change 74 to EB If you are using V1.02 - Find location 0000CA96 and change 74 to EB If you are using V1.03 - Find location 0000B648 and change 74 to EB Note: This only fixes the single player mode for now V1.03 * Then copy the DIABDAT.MPQ file (500+MB) to the root of a drive. Placing the file elsewhere will require the use of FakeCD. * Goto START / RUN on the taskbar and type regedit then press OK. * Goto Edit / Find "Blizard Entertainment" * Go under Blizzard Entertainment to find Archives. On the right side of the screen you will see (default) DiabloCD DiabloInstall * Highlight the DiabloCD value then Edit/Modify the value to the location of where the DIABDAT.MPQ file is located. The program should now run without the CD. This method has been verified to work.
